Kiss-Cutting

Kiss-Cutting is a die-cutting process where (typically) adhesive-backed materials are cut through, but the laminated backing substrate or release liner is not. Kiss-Cutting derived its name from the cutting process itself, since during the process a die blade cuts through the face stock and adhesive, but only “kisses” the backing liner without cutting through it. In most roll to roll applications, the outside waste or matrix is then removed, leaving just the finished part on the release liner. Advanced Converting can provide parts kiss cut on a roll or as loose pieces with kiss cut features that can aid in the assembly or use of a part, offer it protection from damage during transport, or improve its packaging. Kiss-Cutting possibilities at Advanced Converting include:

  • Standard dimensional tolerance of +/-.005” for some materials
  • Intricate shapes
  • High-speed cutting
  • Roll to roll or roll to loose piece cutting
  • Ideal for high volume
  • Excellent for pick and place machines
  • Available both high-speed rotary and flatbed cut
  • 2-level (die-cutting and kiss cutting) available

Screen Printing

Screen printing is an excellent printing choice when vivid colors are desired, even on darker materials.  The process of screen printing involves transferring a stenciled design onto a flat substrate using a mesh screen, ink, and a squeegee.  A blade or squeegee is moved across the screen to fill the open mesh areas with ink, and a reverse stroke causes the screen to touch the substrate briefly along a line of contact. This causes the ink to wet the substrate and be pulled out of the mesh openings as the screen rebounds after the blade has passed.  Since only one color can be printed at a time, multiple screens are used to produce a multicolored image or design.  Advanced Converting offers screen printing services on many different substrates.  Please contact us to quote your next screen printing requirement.  Screen printing possibilities at Advanced Converting include:

  • Durable, long-lasting inks
  • Print over peaks and valleys on a wide variety of substrates
  • Bold legible print
  • Vivid colors
  • Short run testing available
