- Adhesive transfer tapes – These pure adhesives (typically 2mil to 10 mil thk) are coated to a release liner and have no structural body except that for which the release liner provides. They are designed to be laminated to a substrate then the liner can be removed. Since they are pure adhesive – they allow the laminated substrate to stretch and conform.
- Double coated film and foam tapes – These tapes are composed of adhesive coated to both sides of a center core (called a carrier)– either film or foam. The film or foam provide the structural body and limit the amount of stretch and conformability.
- Differential / Removable / Reposition-able tapes - Differential tapes are double coated tapes that have a different adhesive coated on each side of the film or foam carrier. For example, you may need a silicone adhesive on one side and an acrylic adhesive on the other. Removable/Repositionable adhesives are lower tack formulations designed for removability without residue. For example – masking tapes range in a peel value of around 22oz and a post-it note is around 2 to 4 oz peel force. Removable tapes are in between that range.
- High bond (VHB) and double coated foam tapes – High bond tapes or Very High Bond tapes (VHB) are formulated for permanent holding of substrates and exhibit exception shear and peel bond strengths. VHB tapes are often visco-elastic foam impregnated with the adhesive all the way thru thick core thickness and compress and expand from force supplied to them. This makes them the ideal bonding solution for different metal surfaces like aluminum and steel that expand and contract at different rates thru a temperature
cycle.
- Electrically and thermally conductive tapes - Electrically conductive tapes have fine conductive particles embedded into their structure making them conduct electricity in the Z-Axis, or X-Y and Z axis. Thermally conductive tapes have thermally conductive particles embeded into their structure allowing heat to pass thru them from the heat source to the heat sink.
- Masking and protective tapes - Masking tapes are typically a crepe paper coated with a removable adhesive but strong enough to keep paints from edging in under the adhesive. Protective tapes are typically film tapes with a low tack adhesive range for temporarily attaching to a smooth surface plastic or metal surface to a matte or textured surface.
- Polyester and high-temperature Polyimide tapes - Polyester film tapes coated with a high temperature silicone adhesive may go to 350 to 400 degrees F for a short duration whereas Polyimide tapes may go as high as 600 degrees F for short durations. We utilize special teflon based liners when fabricating silicone based PSA’s.
- Single sided foam tapes – Adhesive coated to just one side of a foam makes up single coated foam tapes. Adhesives may be rubber based, acrylic based or silicone based depending on the substrate you intend to bond to.
- 3M™ Bumpon™ protective products – This product is a rubber coated on one side and provided in standard thicknesses of 1/32”, 1/6”, 1/8” and ¼” in two different densities which can be fabricated/diecut to various shapes/sizes. Standard input rolls of 4-1/2” or
- 9” are available.
